Virgo Fidelis School

The project involved a £5million new build extension of the school with low energy technologies provided to comply with planning application requirements.

Sustainable Solutions included:

  • A wind turbine

  • Thermal Heating

  • Air Source Heat Pumps

  • Natural Ventilation

  • Rainwater collection

  • PV power

  • LED lighting and lighting control

The scheme also required a new kitchen, reception, classrooms and sports areas. This included:

  • Dedicated emergency lighting, lighting control, photo cell control, BMS VSD pumps, meter management systems, fire detection and alarms, lifts and gas mains were provided.

  • The lighting design incorporated full Dialux calculations, Cable sizing undertaken using Amtech predesign.

  • Discrimination and Protection Study providing grading on the new electrical substation and systems.

  • Project implementation included all stages of RIBA including FAT’s, SAT’s, snagging, defects review, contractual discussions/ compliance, British standard compliance, testing and commissioning inspections, photographs of defects within a report, meeting notes O&M manual approvals and final handover.
