Data Centre in London

We were asked to undertake a Protection and Grading Study, where the completed report would give its findings for a short circuit study to comply with BS EN 60909 while incorporating a Selectivity study for the electrical distribution system to the facility.

This study covered:

  • A visual survey upfront to identify relay/trip units and breaker types.

  • MV distribution including UKPN settings.

  • LV distribution

  • Generators

  • UPS

  • Focus on use of the type C or D MCB's.

  • The study provided a list of "Existing" settings with time-current curves.

  • Corrective actions list of proposed "New" settings with time-current curves.

For the study to be undertaken, a visual survey was required on the existing relays and protection settings at the site.

 The survey covered :

  • ETAP Model single line diagram

  • Protection Settings Schedules

  • Co-ordination sheets (time current curves) for overcurrent and earth fault

  • Load Flow & Short circuit fault current results to BS EN 60909

  • Reference Documents

  • Protection setting Guide & Device Data

  • Network and Load Data

  • Cross referenced to the manufactures trip unit and relay characteristic curves. Cross referenced with Amtech Protect software.
